NSE IPO Commences Today: Initial Subscriptions Initiated for ₹22,569 Crore Offering
The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) commenced its Initial Public Offering (IPO) for public subscription today, September 17, 2026, heralding one of the most significant public share offerings in India's financial history.
The IPO features a price range of ₹1,700 to ₹1,785 per equity share and encompasses an offer for sale (OFS) of up to 12.64 crore shares by current shareholders. Given that the offering consists entirely of an OFS, the NSE will not derive any proceeds from the share sale.
The subscription period is set to last until September 21, with a provisional allotment date of September 22. Trading of NSE shares on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) is anticipated to commence on September 24. The minimum retail application entails purchasing 8 shares, necessitating an investment of ₹14,280 at the top end of the price range.
In advance of the public offering, NSE secured ₹6,746.18 crore through its anchor book, drawing participation from 189 institutional investors. This allocation was bolstered by prominent domestic and global investors, with shares allocated at ₹1,785 each.
Initial bidding on the inaugural day indicated both institutional and non-institutional engagement, alongside retail interest. According to Reuters, bids had been placed for approximately 0.09 times the shares available by 10:20 AM IST, with subsequent reports from the exchange indicating an uptick in subscription rates during the morning session.
The latest unofficial grey-market premium (GMP) was reported to be approximately ₹125 per share on the morning of September 17. Please note that GMP serves as an unofficial metric and is subject to fluctuation prior to listing; it does not assure the final listing price or financial returns.
