How to Apply for an IPO using Groww App Quickly

Published on 28 September 2026

Navigating the Groww IPO Section

Groww has emerged as a favorite platform for millennial investors due to its highly intuitive and user-friendly interface. Applying for an IPO via Groww is a breeze and completely paperless. Once you log into the app, simply scroll down to the 'IPO' section on the homepage. Here, you will see a list of 'Open', 'Upcoming', and 'Closed' IPOs neatly categorized for easy access.

Before tapping 'Apply', you can read the concise financial summary and peer comparison provided by Groww to make a quick, informed decision.

Approving the UPI Block Request

Select the open IPO and enter the number of lots you wish to bid for. Groww automatically selects the 'Cut-off Price' by default to maximize your allotment chances. After entering your UPI ID, submit the bid. You will then receive a mandate request on your respective UPI app. It is crucial to approve this mandate before the 5:00 PM deadline on the closing day, otherwise, your bid will not be registered with the exchange.

If you are unsure whether to apply, you can wait and monitor the real-time IPO subscription data. Massive retail and QIB oversubscription usually indicates a safe bet for listing gains.

Where to Check Groww Allotment

Once the bidding concludes and the registrar finalizes the lottery, Groww updates the status in the 'My IPO Applications' tab. However, third-party registrar portals often declare the results hours before broker apps update their UI.

To be the first to know, you can seamlessly check IPO allotment status directly using your PAN card. If you are lucky enough to get an allotment, Groww will notify you when the shares are credited to your Demat balance.

Ensuring a Smooth Bidding Experience

To avoid technical hiccups, always apply on Day 1 or Day 2. Last-minute rushes on Day 3 often cause UPI mandate delays due to heavy server loads at NPCI. Furthermore, while the Groww app shows basic details, you should always check external barometers like the Kostak rates and Subject to Sauda to gauge the true unofficial demand before blocking your funds.

Using Groww's IPO Dashboard

Groww provides one of the cleanest UI experiences for IPOs. The dashboard not only lets you apply but also provides a 'Pre-IPO Analysis' section. It breaks down the company's financials into easy-to-read bar charts and lists the pros and cons, helping beginners make rapid decisions.

Understanding the 5 PM Cutoff Rule

Groww strictly enforces the exchange cutoff times. While you can place the bid on the app until 5:00 PM on the closing day, it is highly recommended to complete the UPI mandate approval by 4:00 PM. NPCI servers often face massive bottlenecks in the final hour, leading to failed blocks.

How to Modify or Cancel a Bid

If you change your mind after applying, Groww allows you to easily modify or cancel your bid as long as the IPO window is still open. Simply go to 'My IPO Applications', select the bid, and hit cancel. The exchange will immediately instruct your bank to revoke the UPI mandate.

Tracking the Status via Groww UI

Once the registrar finalizes the allotment, Groww's UI updates automatically to show 'Allotted' or 'No Allotment'. If allotted, the UI tracks the listing date and shows the shares in your primary holding dashboard the moment they are credited by the depository.
